Being worn-out with just project estimation and re-estimation alone for the past few months, why not write some thing about software estimation though its not a small topic for me write few lines and finish off. So, here goes a very small snap-shot... As like the saying, 'Don't fail to plan unless you plan to fail', a crystal clear planning is the basic necessity for successful execution of a project and estimation forms of the one important basics of the plan. By Software estimation what we estimate on:         1) Effort : Estimation of amount of work to be done. Eg: Number of Function Points involved or LOC to be developed.         2) Time & Cost : Time needed to get the work done. I thought of having my technical thoughts out of this and so created one for that long back. Tried to have it as a team blog and it didn't worked out. So back again here for my technical thoughts too. Being in to yet another software servicing company in India, no need to say part of my work is in to AMS and some times in to ADM. Back again the blogosphere !!! Was thinking about updating the blog for a long while and infact had a long list to blog. But this one triggered me to do this atonce. Here is my experience on the same and that too with my most favorite platform !!! While surfing the net, saw a link stating : "Father of SOA publishes, Security in SOA article... ". With the expectation of some Gregg / Marc to be the "Father of SOA", opened it and surprised to read, "Rajiv Gupta, widely known as the father of SOA.... " While browsing that site, here it came : Just with a curiosity to know what the error is, clicked, "click here" in the above, Didn't got any thing more. So thought why not see the technical information and again : "click here". Technical information about the error report : Even time stamp too in hexa ! Got nothing from a message from the most user friendly OS. Great going MS (!!!)

Google Select ......I'm curious how they are doin it. Google Suggest returns suggested results as you type .....this is technically amazing. Even if I type pretty fast it gets updated for every single keypress......brilliant folks in Google wrote all these innovative code. I just wanted to undersand the web interface and it's dynamic interface behind this. I surfed the net and got little more informations. This live search has been implemented some time back in Apples' Spotlight feature. Apple might had inspired Google. I walked through Google's code & script. They are using XMLHttpRequest to send request to the server where they are havin the script which returns a HTML file. Event though this is someones innovation it's Google who first implemented it. Once Google meant only a search engine ...now a lot more frm them.... Gmail, Desktop search tool, Google Suggest.....when are they goin to stop(???).
